Somebody turned 1!

It was this cute guy.

Checking out his first present a couple days before the actual day. Wasn't too sure why there was something hiding inside the bag.

Here's the real day. I can't believe he's already 1! Wow.

Ready for some cake. Actually, he really wanted the gumballs on it. That boy loves balls.

Very neat at first.

Thanks for all the gifts and cards everyone. He a had a great day that he'll never remember. :) The day after his birthday, he got to go to the doctor for his checkup. Poor guy got 5 shots and poked 6 times (one of them was to get some blood for an anemia test). He doesn't seem to be bothered by them, so that's good.
Here's his stats:
21 lbs .5 oz (30%)
28 3/4 inches (25%)
The percentiles are exactly the same as his last checkup, so he's growing just great.
P.S. I found Lilly's 18 month checkup paper. She weighed 21 lbs. Ha!

Some things Grant does at 12 months:

*crawls super fast. He puts his head down to go even faster.

*loves anything soft. He'll stop and put his head down or bury his face in the blanket or pillow or cat, and say "ahhhh".

*eats everything. He is getting more independent and wants to feed himself. If anyone is eating food without him, he will find you and eat your food.

*kicks his foot when he's eating. He's been doing this ever since he was little.

*cruises along everything. He's been doing this for a few months. Lately, he lets go and stands by himself.

*says mama, dada, all done, bath, ball, up, more (sounds like bah?), and apparently waves and says bye. I missed that one.

*loves to kiss everyone. They are always open mouth. When he's in a kissy mood, he'll kiss everyone in his proximity and keep going around in circles for a while.

*he's not afraid of strangers at all. He's a very social baby. He'll let anyone hold him. Very different than Lilly.

*doesn't care for a binky. Never has liked them and never liked bottles either. It's making weaning a little difficult. I'm quite glad that he doesn't like the binky though. I don't have to worry about taking it wherever I go.

*more like his dad than me. I think that's why we get along so well. :)

He's such a happy baby. As long as he has just eaten, he's the cutest little guy ever! We're so lucky to have him in our family!

He's all boy. And quite a cute one. Even though I'm constantly behind him picking up after him. He only likes to play with things if they've been put away. Once toys have been taken out where they were, no interest whatsoever.

See what I mean. This is what I see all over the house. It's exhausting. :)

The other morning, after he had been playing for a bit, I went to change his diaper and this is what I found inside his jammies.

This year, we're lucky enough to have 2 Thanksgivings. The first one was last week in Duchesne. My kids have never liked the car, so we made sure to have lots of snacks and videos on the phone. Here's Lilly watching a movie. The earbuds wouldn't stay in her little ears and she claimed she couldn't hear it through the speaker of the phone. All we had were these headphones that go over the back of the head. They were a little big, but we made it work. :)

Grant was happy as long as he was eating. Other than that, he screamed...sigh. He was so tired, but refused to sleep (why don't kids just sleep when they're tired instead of cry? Really?!). He did finally fall asleep 10 minutes before we got there. Of course.
Lilly spent probably half the time there holding her new niece, Rebecca. She loved her and loved how tiny she was.

Lilly is really fashion-foward. She likes to wear her over-the-knee boots...and they are quite over-the-knee. :)

She's a sassy little girl.
Grant likes to hide behind things and play peek-a-boo.

Lilly just being cute.

My cute boys. I finally found a tie for Grant. He looked like a little stud with it and his parted hair for church.

Sorry this was such a random post. Not too much going on here. Just trying to stay warm and get ready for Christmas. :)

I Heart Him

Happy Veteran's Day

Guess it's my turn...

Halloween was lots of fun. It started off by going to the Halloween Carnival at my parent's ward. We do it every year and I know Lilly had lots of fun. Even though she wouldn't crack a smile.

Anyway. Lilly was a fairy and Grant was Superman. I had lots of fun making their costumes this year.

Here's Lilly right before we head off to the carnival.

Later that night right before we headed out to go trick-or-treating. The kiddos stayed nice and warm. Lilly wore 2 sweatshirts and Grant wore 2 sweatshirts, a long-sleeved shirt, onsie and 2 pairs of pants. This is the best picture of them I could get. They have a real hard time holding still.

Before we even left. Grant found my parent's bowl of candy. He was in heaven!

Loot. Grant loved his first Halloween. He dove right in to people's bowls when they opened the door and the candy went straight into his mouth. He didn't have enough time to get through the wrapper before we would get to the next house, so that's nice.

Lilly, being the super shy girl she is, didn't say "trick-or-treat" once. But she still ended up with a full size Snickers that her mother will steal. :) Happy Halloween to me!

Hope everyone's Halloween was great!

I'm pretty lucky. My kids play pretty well together. Sometimes there's an occasional throw-down, but for the most part, Grant thinks Lilly is hilarious.
I got the blow-up car out the other day. Unfortunately with a psychotic cat, it didn't last for very long. But it was fun while it lasted. This car is filled with balls. Grant loves balls and even says ball. (He also barks like a dog when he hears the dogs barking.)

Trying to get some more.

You know how Lilly falls asleep while eating dinner? She falls asleep while watching movies, too. Usually while I'm making dinner so it's getting way too late to sleep. *Sigh*. Are naps really that bad?

Lilly loves to draw and write. It's not scribbles everywhere either. It's quite neat. And she colors really well. She stays inside the lines better than I do. It's fun to watch her.

On our anniversary on our way to dinner, which was so good, by the way!

If you think colored pencils are safe from getting all over kids, think again. Lilly managed to write all over herself with one. Apparently when you suck on one, it turns into a makeup pencil.

Grant did his cute inchworm/Michael Phelps swim-crawl for such a long time. I thought he would just skip regular crawling all together. But right when he turned 10 months he started doing the regular crawl and has been doing that ever since. Kinda sad to see it go. :(

He gets into everything! Lilly was never as curious as he is. Example: we never had to get outlet covers or latches for cupboards with her. That's the stuff he goes straight to. There is destruction wherever he goes.

Andrew's birthday!!! I won't say how old is, but I think he had a good day. He requested-PG-13 here people-Better than Sex Cake which I made with brownies instead of cake. It was so good! And Lilly fell asleep while eating dinner, again. We had to wake her up and she wouldn't even crack a smile.

The other week, we wanted to do something fun. Since it's getting cold outside, we decided to take Lilly bowling. This was her first time and she loved it!

This was one of her first turns.

Andrew of course got a few strikes. Lame.

Learning to "high-5".

Grant loved the balls.

Waiting for it to come back up.

Kinda hard to see-Lilly 56, Andrew 112, Me- 49. Yes. She beat me. Sadly, that's not the lowest score I've ever gotten.

And last, but not least. Grant's funny face.

ABCDEFGee...

A: Addiction: checking people's blogs, thinking about updating my blog, and Andrew.

B: Breakfast: toast with Peanut Butter and Honey or a bowl of Oh's. (that's the first cereal I've ever had that doesn't get soggy, which is very important to me.)

C: Chocolate or Chips: depends on the day. Or the time of the month, rather. :)

D: Dessert or Appetizers: dessert

E: Essential Items: chapstick, wipes, diapers, extra pair of clothes for both kids, cell phone.

F: Favorite Color: orange

G: Gummy Bears or Gummy Worms: bears. I like to bite their heads off. Or attach different color heads to different colored bodies.

H: Hometown: umm. I never know what to put here. I guess since I've lived in "Utah" for longer than anywhere else now, I guess I'd have to say Logan.

I: Indulgence: eating microwave popcorn right after the kids go to bed. Or anything that I don't give them usually. I just wait until the end of the day and then I don't have to share.

J: January or July: July. January sucks! (except for Jaime's birthday...)

K: Kids: 2- Lilly and Grant.

L: Life isn't complete without: my family and the gospel. (ditto)

M: Most exciting memory: I don't know. Probably my honeymoon. Flying into New York and taking a cab to the hotel. I thought we were going to die. And then actually getting into our hotel "room". It was a definite adventure.

N: Number of Brothers and Sisters: 2 brothers, 2 sisters.

O: Oranges or Apples: oranges! It's almost orange season. I'm so looking forward to my case of oranges under the Christmas tree!

P: Phobias or Fears: spiders, squirrels, germs. Ditto about the swine flu, Amy. Or any flu for that matter. Wet bread.

Q: Quotes: Deep Thoughts:
“Laurie got offended that I used the word "puke." But to me, that's what her dinner tasted like.”

“Here's a good trick: Get a job as a judge at the Olympics. Then, if some guy sets a world record, pretend that you didn't see it and go, "Okay, is everybody ready to start now?".”

“To me, it's a good idea to always carry two sacks of something when you walk around. That way, if anybody says, Hey, can you give me a hand? You can say, Sorry, got these sacks."

“If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."”
And, in honor of Halloween and Andrew coming back from the war :)...
“If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.”

R: Reading: do blogs count?

S: Summer or Spring: summer. Spring is still too cold.

T: Tag 6 people: whoever wants to. (was your comment, Amy, directed at someone like me?)

U: Unknown fact about me. I have to put on lotion immediately after touching any kind of water. I hate the way it feels if I don't.

V: Vacation I want to go on: Hawaii with Andrew and Ireland.

W: Walking or Running: Running, if kicking a soccer ball is involved.

X: X-Ray or Ultrasound: Both! Because both mean I'm in some sort of medical facility.

Y: Your favorite food: I also love food. Especially Mexican. It used to be Italian until I had an unfortunate incident that I still haven't gotten completely over.

Z: Zoo or Bowling: Bowling! I actually hate the zoo. Blame my mother. I've never had a desire to take my kids to zoos. I will never take them to the San Diego Zoo. That is the worst one of them all. I suck at bowling, but at least it's fun.

September 25, 2003

It's my wedding anniversary today. Six year ago, I was lucky enough to marry Andrew. I love him so much more today than I did that day. And it seems like I've been married to him forever. :)

Luckily, I get to be married to him forever. :)

In honor of my anniversary, I'm posting some of our wedding pictures. I love looking at people's wedding pictures, so that's why I'm posting a lot.

Love you, sweetheart!
